    Description

Post-ovulation, progesterone-driven endometrium. Glands become tortuous + sawtoothed with sub-nuclear / supranuclear vacuoles, stroma becomes edematous + decidualized — preparing for implantation.

    Labeled regions (3)

    1. 1
      Tortuous secretory glands

Coiled + sawtoothed glands with luminal secretions. Hallmark of progesterone effect after ovulation.

    2. 2
      Subnuclear vacuoles

Glycogen-rich clear vacuoles beneath gland nuclei — earliest sign of ovulation having occurred.

    3. 3
      Edematous stroma

Loose, pale stroma between glands. Late secretory phase: decidualization with plump cells.
